NDC for a Named Driver

Hope someone can help.

I have seperated from my wife and moved house. The car insurace which I pay for (but my ex wife uses the car) needs to be cancelled and set up with her as the policy holder (the car needs to reside at the policy holders address).

This basically means that she needs to set up a policy in her name, however as a named driver she hasn't built up any NCD so the premium is very high and unaffordable.

Can anyone advise on how best to deal with this? We've had a joint policy and built up NCD of 6 years however this is in my name as the policy holder. I could transfer this to her, but I need this for my own vehicle.

Are there any insurers which will accept NCD for a named driver?

Have you asked the insurer you are currently with? They are probably your best bet.

As far as i know it's normally the company you've been insured with who offer that bonus as an incentive to stay with them; but not all offer it.

Some companies apply the NCD to named drivers as well as the main driver - I think Churchill is one. Definitely worth checking with your current insurer

Why are you worrying about what it will cost her to insure the car? You're separated and I take it she kept the house AND the car.
