I agree with some of the other posts - I have never been to a wedding where we have been provided with button holes or asked to buy our own - it has always been an optional thing.
I will be ordering them for the Dads, OH, and Ushers and corsages for the Mum's if they want them. If anyone else wants a button hole, I would expect them to organise their own. It used to be tradition I guess, but with most of the weddings these days you don't really see many guests wearing them (or at least this is the case for the last 3 or 4 I have been to).
It depends on your budget too I guess. It may only add up to £50 or whatever, but to me that is not an amount to be sniffed at and if that money is needed elsewhere then I really wouldn't want to have to scrimp on something else to buy people buttonholes. Equally, I wouldn't ask them to pay for their own button hole. I think unless you are on top table then you shouldn't really be expected to wear one.
I am happy for my guests to do whatever they like. Some older family members might like to wear one, but I'm pretty sure that for most of our friends it wouldn't even enter their head to get one...
Good luck with the planning! Let us know what you end up deciding0 -
Johanna, amazing picture - they look better than I pictured, as for some reason I had white calla lillies and I couldn't quite imagine them. It all makes sense now. Are you making your own?
