Hi

Today i recevied 3 packages from amazon uk, not unexpected as i was expecting 3.

On opening the third, which was addressed to me , inside was an order I hadnt made, despatched from amazon.de and with a german name and address as the customer. Ive never used amazon.de

I conatcted amazon uk via live chat and didnt really get anywhere, they arranged soemone to call me back but again no real joy - asked for a manager and was told id need to call back.

I contacted amazon uk by live chat again and had to explain the whole story again as couldnt connect me to previous operator, system doesnt allow apparently. They eventually arranged to contact amazon.de on my behalf. This was after they told me they didnt know who the CEO of amazon uk was!

Took about 2 hours overall to get to this point

Amaxon.de have emailed asking me to return the package for which they will refund postage however have avoided my questions as to how this happened. To get a refund of postage I need to phone a german number to register my payment details for a refund.

Amazon uk say

Please rest assured that Amazon.co.uk doesn't disclose customer's account information to our partner sites. Although we are affiliated with Amazon.de, all orders with Amazon.de are independent of any orders with Amazon.co.uk.

Which doesnt really explain how this happened.

Ive had positive experiences in the past with amazon however really starting to wish I hadnt been honest as more hassle than its worth.

Tell them you'll make it available for collection at your convenience :)

Its all you really have to do - other than take reasonable care of it of course.

Why do you need a CEO? Why do you need to know what happened?

You got a package, not addressed to you, you contacted them, you return it.

It will be at their expense and time, ask them to arrange it...end of problem.

Some Amazon.de items are despatched from the UK and vice-versa. That is how this mistake happened.

Just email Amazon.de advising that the goods are available for them to collect at your convenience. Do nothing more.

I can't imagine why on earth you would want or need to contact the CEO.

Assuming you got all the goods you ordered and you haven't been charged for the amazon.de goods, you have done enough messing about.

Just sit on the goods for a while and see what happens.
  • Or stick a return to sender label on the box and put it in teh postbox?

That made me giggle too. Bit OTT asking for the name of the CEO.

Spot on - the address label has been put on the wrong box. Nothing sinister, mistakes happen.

Good, common sense answer. I don't see why it should cause anyone to make such a fuss.
