I think it's so scary because, up until now, we've been using them for food and petrol as we've not had enough money after paying off the various cards and loan. However, I can't get into my head that we'll have money for food/petrol now *without* the cards..Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

You will soon realise you have enough cash to pay for the food and petrol BR and what a wonderful liberating feeling it will be:T. Hope you are having a good day today? I am feeling a little sorry for myself as I am off work with a heavy cold. I get paid when on sick but try to avoid it as they use it as a measure in redundancy situation and, most importantly it means I cannot do a couple of hours overtime:mad:LBM August 2011. Oooh well done!!! It isn't an easy thing to do!! But give it a couple of months and you'll realise that you don't remember how you couldn't manage without it before. And there's nothing nicer than seeing the balances come down rather than stuck in limbo! :jDon't be 'Good' - Be 'Amazing'0

Hope so
Looking forward to it all, in a weird way, but then I realise how long it'll take (unless something changes for me re: job) and then I get a bit down again.Standingtall wrote: »I am feeling a little sorry for myself as I am off work with a heavy cold. Oh no!
I hope you feel better very soon.
Cold are horrid things, makes you feel ill out of all proportion to your symptoms, doesn't it?
I'm doing some Christmas cards today, (2nd class stamps for the first time!) and trying to prioritise in order to send cards to the people who actually send us cards, and not just blindly send to everyone in my address book! Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Might have just had our first call from a creditor.
Wanted to speak to Mr BR, I said he wasn't here (cos he's not) and asked what it was regarding so that I could pass on a message. She said it was a 'personal call' and that she'll try again later. I said that I was his fiancee and yet she was telling me it was a personal call? She said she couldn't give me a message, nor tell me which company she was ringing from due to 'data protection laws'. I said that was silly and she hung up....
I'm guessing it's Capital One as they were the first company we sent a letter to.Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Its a weird feeling. We managed to coincide stopping paying the credit cards and applying for the DMP with DH getting paid so even though our DMP doesn't officially start until next month we are sort of living like it has started already. It feels really strange paying with my debit card in Tesco cos its normally a no go. Knowing we have cash in the bank still 2 weeks into the month is an odd feeling.0 -

We did a naughty and made sure that we'd done a full grocery shop being cutting up the final card and send off the DMP letter to them. We've got £30 in cash to last us until the 20th, which should be fine..Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

I get paid a week early this month due to Christmas but of course, unless I am very strict with myself, this could make January very long indeed:oLBM August 2011. DFD somewhere post [STRIKE]2025[/STRIKE]2022

Well done BR and everyone else here who's done the same.
What courage and determination. I wish I was that brave, but fortunately am not in a position where I don't need to. (Not boasting. Just stating fact).
All the best as you adjust to your new spending patterns BR!0 -

Know what you mean. I get paid on 22nd Dec instead of 31st and trying to work out where to best put the money until 1st Jan so I'm not tempted to dip into it!0
