Please Tell me you got some answers to this, I have recieved the same letter :-( and am in the same situation amd am feel so ill over the whole matterHI
i have received a letter from morecroft today - thanks to halifax chasing me for a credit card debt which may be uneforceable!
is there any time period in which they have to produce the deed of assignment?
If my account is in dispute with halifax are they able to send this to morecroft as all otehr attempts by varioys debt collectors seem to cease when i state that the account is in serious dispute?
if the halifax are in breach of SAR in relation to this account could this imapct on what morecroft are doing?
thanks0 -
I've been dealing with Moorcroft for almost a year now. I missed a few payments on my Argos Card when I lost my job last year which was passed to Moorcroft. When I first recieved contact from Moorcroft they had already added a few charges which had hiked the rate up.
I stupidly refused to pay until they wiped these which just added more charges however am constantly offering only what I can afford after my other commitments (rent, food etc) which is usually ignored and followed by a legal proceedings letter from the pre court division monthly.
These letters are purely scare tactics. If anyone shows up on your doorstep with regards to your debts turn them away and go straight to your local Citizens Advice Bereau. I have been speaking to them since Moorcroft first contacted me and they have been extremely helpful.:j Amateur bargain hunter :j0 -
I have dealt with moorcroft in the past and have found them to be very very sloppy at corespondance.
However, once the debt has been sold on to them I was successful in getting them to accept a "Full and final offer" to settle the debt of approx 40% of the disputed figure.
Would your son be able to raise this somehow to get rid of them? the F&F letter is available at the top of the forum. The worst they can say is no.0 -
We've just got this letter from their "pre-court" division as well, regarding a Halifax credit card debt. I'm going to send a letter to both Moorcroft and Halifax requesting to know who specifically "owns" this debt currently, as we are getting letters/statements from Halifax saying to pay Halifax and from Moorcroft saying to pay Moorcroft, which I believe is not on. We've been having this kind of thing from a couple debts recently, duplicate billing from a collection agency AND the original debt company. Very confusing, very aggravating. Until I get something in writing from Halifax saying to pay Moorcroft, then I will continue to send my payments to Halifax.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Moorcroft are infamous for their "Pre court division" - a "pre school divsion" would have more authority than these clowns.0

I have just had one from them for a debt for Studio cards. I have a letter from studio saying they accept £1 for 6 months. I send all my creditors £5 a month every month. Moorcroft say if i do niot phone them then they will presume im ignoring the debt. Ergh, bank statements and cheque numbers state im not ignoring it and you know i just feel like going bancrupt rather than trying to do the right thing. I sent all my creditors an income and expenditure adn asked for reduced payment. On the letter it says we know you live there as we have confirmation from a utility service. I never said i didnt live here, im not ignoring the debt im paying it and there is no way im phoning them so they can harrass me day and night. They can take me to court if they want to im not bothered anymore. It seems the more you try to do the right thing the more you are screwed out of every penny. Do they not realise that if they didnt keep putting ridiculous charges on i would near enough have cleared the debt?0

Ignore Moorcroft, and as 'Mr Ton' says, they're infamous for that 'pre court' drivel, as well as straw-clutching.
My personal favourite of theirs has to be 'valid even if not read by you', and there are at least two other agencies (Meritforce being one) that uses similar such wording in one of their automated bulls**t-o-grams.
Expect hilarity where Morrocroft are concerned.0 -

I have the money to pay the full amount but I'm worried that if I pay over the phone will this cease contact from them and will my debt be cleared???? Or should I write to them first asking for a final settlement figure. I'm so confused. I just want this messy business to be over without my partner finding out-he will kill me!!! Am also worried that if I pay all of it they will then have my card details and have read horror stories of people still getting charged. I feel sick and all alone. Please advise, please

(Holding hand up) Another one over here!!
Hiya!!!:T:T:T
Yup we're another member of the "muppetcroft" letter receivers.
Always, always says "Pre-Court Division" - as of yet, no action and the first one was received about 3 years ago. Don't worry about them, as had been said before they are unbelievably sloppy with correspondance and completely useless at getting back to you.
Yup, definate scare tactics - don't worry yourself too much. There's been some fab advise already on I&E and letters etc to your Creditors, follow these and don't worry about "muppetcroft" (love that!!):TWhen looking at the climb in front of you, don't forget to look back once in a while and see how far you have come:j
and remember...
All the worrying in the world won't change anything...so breathe:beer:0
