Got my Vanquis Card .... Feel Strange though ...

Hey,
My Vanquis Card arrived in the post today, which I was very much looking forward to. I've activated it and set up the internet account, but I feel very strange about it all of a sudden, like I don't deserve it or something ....
I know it is going to help my improve my credit score, and that I will only ever use it for small amounts which will be repaid in full, but I can't help a weird sickly feeling in my stomach. I guess I've got so used to managing my money tightly, that the thought of potential access to a line of credit makes me feel kind of guilty ... aargh, not sure if that makes sense (probably doesn't). I think I will have to get used to having credit again, but this time be confident that I will only use it for small, necessary purchases that can be repaid quickly.
Anybody else feel like that when they got access to credit again?

I know I'm scared witless of having access to credit next year after my clean up. I shall only use mine for petrol and pay it off in full each month, I'm sure once I have that set in my mind (that it's not for any other use) I'll be fine.
With me, there's always the worry that the Bipolar will rear it's ugly head and 'make' me want to spend again. Much safer if I don't have the available credit to be at risk with. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I know that one! Touchwood it's under control. Will be doing my cleanup next year but no plans for a card (if for no other reason than that Vanquis/Capital One were creditors in my br!)

No, no such feelings here:) Had mine for over 7 months now, very useful for where debit cards are not taken.:pB&SC No. 298

Hi Guys, can I just ask how long after being discharged did you apply for a credit card? I'm in the same boat and was discharged 2 months ago. Not wanting to use credit but starting to clean my files up etc. Do I need to leave it a certain amount of time after discharge before applying for a card. Also, was Vanquis the best one to go for? I've had a look online and this seems to be the most advertised one for bankrupts, though the interest rate made me choke!!!
Thanks x0 -
Apply to Vanquis as they seem to accept anyone after bankruptcy even when you credit file hasn't been cleaned up yet.
I know some people on here had a few ccj's and defaults and they still got accepted
Interest is high but you were bankrupt so that's to be expected

I've got my Vanquis too and its nice to have it and if used wisely it can open doors to new credit and low interest deals.
Being stupid in the past and seeing friends and family get loans and new cars is upsetting when all you can get is high interest provident loans old bangers and goods from Brighthouse.
These vultures want you to screw up as they know you will have to go to them and pay their stupid high interest and put petrol in their new Jags.
Don't feed the fat cats use your credit wisely

Thats great!
How much credit did they start you off at? What was your interest rate?
I just got one recently also needed it for my first holiday in 3 years, hotels want you to have a credit card not a debit card.
