Venture "Photography Experience" query?

Options
Good Evening

I am hoping that someone may be able to help me with regards to a purchase my husband made in town today. He was sold 2 Venture Photography photo experience certificates - one stating £145 value and one stating £215 value. He was sold these as "money off portrait vouchers" after your "free" sitting. He was sold 2 when the lady asked him about other people who may want a shoot (he replied with yes, his mother as she would like some pictures of all of us). He paid £20 per experience.

My issue is, that on return from work I read the reverse of the cards (small print) and saw that £50 of the value of the "experience" is the cost of the shoot and the remaining money is towards a 5"x7" and 10"x8" respectively, and if different pictures want to be purchased the remaining "value" of the experience card can be deducted from the total selected picture price instead of the small pictures. This is not what he was sold by the lady in town!!

It also states that only 1 card can be used per family per year when she knew that the second card was going to used with the same people!!! This deems one card unusable as they only have a couple of months expiry date.

To add insult to injury, when I checked the expiry dates on each card, they are written as 25/02/2011 so out of date anyway!

What can I do?? I know its only £40 but its more the principal than anything else!!

Thanks in advance :)

Hi, we;ve used Venture several times, as far as I am concerned they are a reputable firm and you shouldn't have any problems with them. We enjoyed our experience, we had one photo included and the you could buy more if wanted, quite pricey but left up to you.

I've had the opposite experience...our Venture photoshoot experience was a nightmare, they offered us another one to make up for it - we couldn't get everyone back together again within the two weeks they were offering, so decided to take our dogs. They lost the entire roll of photos...they did promise us a refund after a great deal of correspondance, but we never got it. I probably should have carried on pushing for it, but I got so fed up of dealing with them.

I'd go back to where she sold them to him and try to return them, or at least exchange them for ones which haven't expired.
  • My nephews bought me a Venture voucher. The experience was good but the prices were very high. We weren't forced into buying but we did go for one canvas (as the pictures were good quality). Unfortunately, they messed up by adding the wall mounting fittings to the bottom of the canvas. They apologised and gave us a free 7 x 5 picture.
