Vanderlism causing write offs

Vaio and Mikey, do not know any exact figures yet, I'm just looking for advice about how insurance companies deal with vanderlism. As I know young drivers especially, are quite harshly treated (my opinion).0

What the car is worth decides how you should pursue the claim.
If you think the repair cost is half the value of the car, it is unlikely it'll be written off.
It'll cost you £300 for the excess. Then you will lose a life on your protected no claims, and both you and your son will have to declare a fault claim on your insurance(s). It'll put up both premiums, and depending on how Aviva treat named drivers, it may affect his ncd (I didn't know Aviva let named drivers earn their own ncd to be honest).
So faced with that possible cost, it may be better to cancel the claim, and push the dents out, then change the car.
If it's a £500 car that's the best option. If it's a £10,000 it's not.
edit -it's bound to affect his ncd, as he will be the one making the claim on your policy.0 -

They treat all claims much the same, if you claim and they can’t recover their costs from someone else then it’s a fault claim on your record, premium loading for the next three/five years and loss of 2/3 years NCB (or a life if you are protected)
Son was driving so will also get the premium loading if/when he gets his own policy.
On the money side, without knowing the car value and the insurance cost this year no one can give you a sensible answer as to the best next step0 -

** Discount available on Aviva policy taken out by named driver and will be converted to NCD after one year's claim free driving.

I don't know exact figures but the cars worth about £2300 and insurance around £1120 a year.
Thanks for all the help0 -
You don't have to claim off insurance if you don't want to
If you think insurance will be rediculous next year with a claim against you
As long as you can live with the dents0
