TTC - which doctor to see first?

Apologies in advance if this is a) in the wrong place or b) very stupid!

OH and I are TTC. I've got endo (diagnosed about 6 years ago, have had 3 laps, prostap, dimetriose, etc). We've been trying (around surgery and treatment) for a couple of years. It's been a bit on and off due to the hormone treatment etc. but there's been at least a year where nothing has happened.

I know from previous laps that the endo has been quite extensive at times (and bl**dy painful, but that's a different issue!)

We're at the point where we'd like to discuss possible fertility treatment, as we're very aware that time isn't on our side. I'm 33 in a few weeks and getting v panicky that it isn't going to happen for us.

So, onto the stupid question - do we need to be registered with the same dr to start the ball rolling? Our GPs are currently in different practices, and my endo consultant is in a completely different PCT.

So far we've been assuming that any problem is on my part but we don't really know how things stand with OH.

Do we see my GP first? How does this work??

TIA x.

I got referred to the hospital by my GP to the assisted conception unit, I think that maybe your first port of call. I know with mine, we had to do a few hormone tests before they could do the referral to make sure that my postergerone levels were casuing the problem, but once there they have done tests on me and OH.

First of all, sorry to hear your news.

You don't need to be registered at the same GP to be referred, I would go to yours since you have the known problem at the moment. Your endo doctor has nothing to do with it, all records will just be sent to the fertility clinic once your GP refers you.

It's a simple process, go to your GP, explain the problems. They'll order some simple bloodwork and probably advise your OH to go to his GP who will order a sperm analysis then you'll be referred.

Good luck, it's not an easy journey ahead.
