My stupid question of the day, electric heater vs gas central heating.

Hi all,
I'm on maternity leave at the mo. Spending most of my days down in the living room.
I have GCH, no thermostat, so my options are to have it either incredibly hot or off. Means I put it on for 1 or 2 short bursts a day.
Would just having a small electric heater on in the living room mean I could stay warmer for longer for cheaper?
I'm not in any financial trouble just want to save money where I can.

Can you install a thermostat? What model boiler do you have? Most have the ability to install a thermostat.
It's cheaper with the gas but you'll be up and down turning it off and on. As long as you don't mind then that's cheaper than the electric heater. Turn off the radiators that you don't want heat from.:footie:

Not necessarily. You can either turn the boiler thermostat to a low setting and/or turn the valves on your radiator nearly off. The boiler will look after itself though cycling is not the most efficient means of operation.0
