Hi all
For those of you about to buy a house, thought I'd let you know that it can be done fairly stress-free - we moved in to our lovely new house this weekend just 8 weeks from acceptance of offer. And we weren't particularly motoring it either.
Good luck to everyone currently buying & selling.

Oh what a dream - ours took forever and was the most stressful move I've ever encountered!
Well done - hope you're very happy in your new home

congratulations.
Karma will come back to bite you in the bum for gloating.
My last purchase was much more like Hazyjo's. I am not jealous, I am not jealous, I am not jealous....It's not fair!

Ugh, I should be so lucky! we've had 2 sales collapse so far. This one is taking forever to get our buyer's mortgage stuff through and we're getting hassle from our vendors vendor who keeps threatening to rent out their property instead of going through with the sale. Plus my solicitor seems to sit and twiddle her thumbs all day unless I ring her and spell her job out for her.
Congratulations on your new home :j now time to unpack some boxes and find homes for all your stuff! :beer:0 -
congrats, it's so nice to know some people can still buy houses... there's still hope for the economy! *high fives at 8 week turnover*0

did ours in 2 working weeks. Now THAT was stressful!0

Thanks for the congrats guys. I promise I wasn't gloating - just trying to pour a little optimism into the housing market - it can be done! It helped that our vendors were fully prepared, with all the paperwork (certificates for heating system, planning permission for extensions etc) in place ready to go. And we were fully prepared in that our AIP's were in place and to be honest, I think if my solicitor had been a little more motivated we could have shaved another couple of weeks off.
And it's not just because there was no chain either, a friend of mine is in a 4 party chain and they are completing Friday, again under 9 weeks.
The most stressful bit is now - trying to find anything amongst all the boxes!!!did ours in 2 working weeks. Now THAT was stressful!
OUCH! That sounds like a nightmare! You had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -

You do get a rather skewed view of house purchasing from this board. After all people only come here with problems.
I've only ever bought four houses in my life but all the purchases were straightforward and didn't cause undue stress.0 -
