Switching... maybe a silly question

Wondered if anyone could help me with this... my gas and electricity is currently with edf, online saver version 7, this tarrif is coming to an end on 31st december at which time i will be transferred onto their standard variable tarrif and therefore i am now looking to switch suppliers. I pay a set amount by direct debit per month. When doing the comparissons to find who will be cheaper i am filling in what i pay now on my current tarrif and obviously no other supplier can beat this but i imagine this is not what i will pay when my tarrif changes so what do i put on the comparisson forms??

use annual kWh usage not annual cost, this year there has been 2 increases in cost so not comparable to what you'll be paying going forward, even on the cheaper tariffs available from power co's.

I am on the same tariff as you and have been using the comparision sites today. Best to select current tariff as the standard rate, since this is what you will be on from 1st jan and input your annual usage in kwh.

My best switch is npower go fix 8 with vouchers, applying via uswitch with £22 quidco cash back.
