DHE Compensation

Options
I was reading on the main site regarding how to claim for wasted time when a delivery fails to arrive at the appropriate time. Was just wondering how this works with modern housing/DHE? I know within THEIR terms that a voucher is given, £20 I think but no compensation will be given other than this. Whilst OOA my wife has had to take time off work at considerable cost (self employed) and they have failed to show on more than 1 occasion. This has cost us hundreds of pounds so a £20 voucher is quite insulting. We did challenge DHE but all they would do is refer to THEIR terms. When we signed as the licensee I suppose we entered into these terms however, surely they must be reasonable and it could certainly be argued that in this case they are not. Any ideas/coments welcomed. Thanks

A £20 voucher for each missed appointment is all that you will get. So 3 missed appointments equals £60 etc. Otherwise DHE would get in to a bottomless pit of claims for the loss of this, that and the other and ultimately that cost would come back to the tax payer eg. you and I. May be hard rules, but it could be open to so much abuse otherwise.

The other point to consider is that their rules were agreed by your employers (eg the military) who were acting on your behalf. May appear to be unfair but that is a sign of the times now with some aspects of military life and the DHE.

I've had a voucher too, haven't found a shop that will accept it yet though despite trying a few - they look at it and say "We haven't seen those before....."

MHS would be bankrupt in 6 mths if they had to compensate customers lack of wages with all the appointments they miss :rotfl:

Fortunately i'm currently a SAHM, not that it makes missed appointments any less annoying! But at least it doesn't cost me any wages.

I've complained about my horrendous service this year, including various missed appts, appts contractors claim to have attended and stated there was no answer when we've been sat there waiting!, various bodged works, bodged Gas safety check certificates, jobs that have disappeared into thin air, the list goes on.

Unfortunately no one gives a monkeys about how their crap service affects us. Stage one, well that's MHS so pointless unless you want the same old of line of sorry, someone forgot, someone didn't know how to do that, we will make sure this doesn't happen again, only for it to happen again shortly after! Stage two, pointless when all they do is give it back to MHS. Stage 3 pointless, they don't actually do anything either and new polices get ignored anyway so.....

Although i did find my local MP good a few years back. Might have to try him again!

MHS have a fb page if you wanted to look. (makes for interesting reading)

I've not had a problem with vouchers generally, you can look up online where they can be spent but they did have a few issues recently with shops refusing them due to fraud which meant customers who had received them had to send them back to be changed.

Whilst I accept your view on this, MHS should be held accountable for their errors and not with just a £20 voucher. It is my intent to take them to the small claims the next time it happens and test THEIR rules. Perhaps when it hits them in the pocket they will make positive changes. Defeatest attitudes and just accepting that they are crap will not change them.

MHS compensation doesn't come out of the tax payers pocket. It's paid by themselves/their contractors.

Everytime they miss an appt make sure you complain in writing preferably. BTW the following accept the vouchers:

    Debenhams
    Boots
    Waterstones

have a look at the say shopping website.....it lists quite a lot.
