whilst you may feel aggrieved by parking issues.
I'll take being able to walk from any parking space over needing a blue badge any day0 -
That's such a good point! I though as much anyway because it riles people up that parents get bigger spaces and less of a walk, but now I definitely think parent and child spaces should be further from the store, to make sure they're available for people who need them.
and just to add there are plenty of safe routes from these spaces to the entrance in case anyone was wondering!
The main problem is needing a wider space-and a safe path/route from car. It's not being close to the entrance because us parents are lazy!Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -

Have you tried to get a blue badge for your child?0 -
I don't go off roading but my car is a working car so I need a large car. I don't have a problem parking at the other end of the car park but what I am saying if I can do it why can't parent's with kids??
Lets face it cars aren't getting smaller parking spaces are getting smaller.
I just don't think it's right for people to be so protective about parking spaces. I hate going to the trafford centre and not finding a parking space aslong as you get a parking space what is the big deal.0 -

you can see P&C spaces at the lower right and upper right of the store
where they are is a very busy part of the car park
its also very badly designed for pedestrians walking through the car park.
however on the lower right, there is a little section tucked away that could be P&C spaces and has a path along the side
plonking them close to the store isnt always the best choice0 -
It's not just 4x4's though.....I used to have a people carrier (i had 4 under 10's at that point) and they don't fit in supermarket parking spaces.
OH drives a saab (9000......a proper saab) .....that fits in even less than a people carrier :rotfl:
Are we supposed to go to the expense of changing the car just to fit in a space at Tesco????Autism Mum Survival Kit: Duct tape, Polyfilla, WD40, Batteries (lots of),various chargers, vats of coffee, bacon & wine.0 -
Have you tried to get a blue badge for your child?
I think we shall investigate thanks applying for one as we have only had the child with us for 8 weeks so just getting to grip with things. Only just had the dla sorted today

congrats on your LO - we also adopted 2 little boys with disabilities. It is hard but oh so worth it!
if your child cannot walk - you will be entitled to higher rate mobility DLA as long as your child is aged over 3
if your child can walk but needs help - you will be entitled to lower rate mobility DLA when he is five but not before that
to get a blue badge - if you get higher rate DLA most councils allow you one when you apply with no evidence
if you do not get higher rate DLA you will need evidence eg GP report of your sons need for one.
i hope that helps - and try not to get wound up about parking etc - it is not worth the bother.

Are Tesco supposed to go to the expense of redesigning their carparks and making spaces bigger so that they can't accomodate as many customers and therefore potentially lose more money in lost revenue...just so you can drive around in an oversized car?;)0 -
we do get the higher rate of dla so might see if we can apply i know the foster carer already had a blue badge as she had other children with special needs too.
