Skype on Sony Bravia TV

Didnt know if best to post here or in the TV section BUT as its a techie question rather than one about the set itsel thought here would be best.

Just bought a internet enabled HD 32" Bravia and as well the usual iplayer etc it has Skype on it. Have logged into Skype and done a voice call to another Skype user but didnt manage to video call as my webcam "is not supported by the this product".

My question is :-

Do I really need to fork out £80 for a Sony TV webcam or is there a way I can get my (HP) USB webcam to work with it?

(Doesnt matter if not as it was just an added extra if it did work!)

Don't know for sure, but as you need their own USB dongle to get WIFI, probably yes.

We just got a Bravia TV and I couldn't find anything on the internet that showed anything other than Sony's camera/microphone working.

I'm more than happy to be corrected as I don't think I will buy the extra piece of hardware just for Skype.
