Boots delivery date warning

Hi there,
Hope people don't think I'm having a rant at Boots but just thought it was worth mentioning this in case it catches anyone else out.
I ordered a No.7 gift set online on 2 December, for collection in store. I received a confirmation email saying 'collect on or before 8 December'.
It still isn't available for collection as of 12 December.
This was my first order with Boots and I checked and double-checked both the email and the website and nowhere did it say that this was an estimated date.
I wrongly assumed that I would definitely be able to collect on 8th at the latest, as it didn't say estimated, and by saying 'on or before' it looks as though they have already built some contingency in. I also thought that as it was a store collection, they could perhaps be more accurate as they are not relying on the postal service.
Phoned CS and they said they have to allow up to 48 hours after the date in the email for the goods to be dispatched from their warehouse! This is not mentioned anywhere.
Just a heads up, if you don't know the system and you're thinking of getting something as a present - don't rely on the delivery date!

might be worth emailing them your comments, i'f agree this is a little misleading -- based on your based i'd also assume I can turn up at anytime until the 8th December where it will be put back up for re-sale.
Unless ofcourse it's just a hickup in which case its just unfortunate0 -
It does say that they will text you when it arrives, or send an email.
That said, I've never had what I ordered not available by the collection date. Have they given a reason, or an estimated delivery date, or at least some boots points?!
(Out of interest, is it the No7 offer of the week you have bought? I think demand for these can be huge, which might be the cause of the delay)0 -

Yes - it says 'to be collected on or before X date, we will email/text you when ready'.
It doesn't say 'we estimate it to be available on X date but please wait for an email/text when it is actually ready'.
That was the point I was trying to make - just that the email does not make it clear at all that the date is an estimate.
The reason given was the '48 hrs to come from the warehouse' in the OP. That was on Friday. Haven't had time to ring them yet today.
Not sure if it was OOTW.
As I say, this wasn't meant to be a rant, just highlighting that the information in the email isn't to be relied on.0 -
Ah. I was wondering if my latest delivery email was different to yours, but it does seem to be the same....I'm quite shocked, I agree that it looks like it'll definitely be there on X date, and have always gone to pick it up on that date.
I hope they find yours and get it to you soon! It doesn't sound like the customer service has been outstanding either.0
