Upsetting though it is, throwing the councils tickets in the bin is a recipe for disaster. The council will just up the price, send it to the bailiffs and you'll lose a darn sight more. Possibly it will pay to be extra careful where you park. Thanks for the info. IF i ever get a ticket next time i'm throwing it straight in the bin. and they can do what they like, not taking this anymore from this RIP OFF country, cant afford to on the JSA money i get, which is £65 a week, yeah i know half went on that damn ticket of £35 yesterday. I'll get it back even if i have toI'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
If the signs are not up to scratch you could have taken it to the adjudicator and probably won.
But, it's paid now, so next time post up your information before talking to the council.0 -
Fuming i have just got a parking ticket also for the same reason as the original poster. These parking bays were not signposted before as being for the disabled , everybody was using them. I would never have parked in a disabled bay. If i had known that these were disabled parking bays I would have parked about 500 yards away where i could have had free parking for 30 minutes. By the way my car was parked outside Tescos.
Really think Havant Council is playing dirty tricks, letting everybody park here for a month or so without so much as one ticket being issued letting us all think it is legal and then hitting us all with tickets.
I am absolutely fuming.0 -
So appeal then. Most people win who do NOT just pay, but follow the full appeals procedure stages with the help of pepipoo:

You may as well appeal a Council PCN, even without pepipoo input, most people who bother to go to an adjudicator win their case or the Council throw in the towel.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Whilst appealing do as Coupon-Mad proposed above do a FOI request to the council to see when the signs were changed!0

It seems that out of the 4 parking bay areas in that road, its alternate, coming from lidls car park which would be on the right, the 1st 3bay, is disabled only which says 30min and upto1hr for disabled ?? why if its only for disabled?, the ones outside natwest believe its a 2 bay is for everone upto 30min, disabled upto 1hr, the one outside tesco's which is a 3bay is also disabled only and the 3bay just before you turn left into the car park behind tescos is also for everyone aka upto 30min, unless disabled then 1hr.
what i want to really know is why these disabled only signs have upto 30min and disabled upto 1hr on them? simple answer of course is to confuse people and make them look like the other signs in the other bays, so they can ticket the car. if you quickly look up at the sign your immediately drawn to the upto 30min and upto 1hr for disable, yet right at the top is says DISABLED ONLY
I went back to pick my mum and sister up and thought i would take another look, SORRY i should have posted something sooner maybe by posting I could have prevented BEAR from getting caught out.0 -
The difference in the time limits is because the council have to make reasonable adjustments for a disabled person. While it may take an able bodied person 30 mins to do whatever, it may take somebody who has a disability longer to do the same thing.
The way you describe the confusing layout of the bays seems like a good earner for the council!0
