Desk & Chair for 7 year old

Hi Guys,
I'm hoping someone can help.
A colleagues nephew has asked for a desk & chair for Christmas - somewhere he can sit and draw (bless him) The problem is, he is 7 and all the desks my colleague can find are aged 4-7. He will grow out of this really quickly and hardly get any use out of it.
Does anyone have any idea where an old pull up desk (the type you might have had at school if you were born in the 70's or before lol) can be bought.
She's tried Argos, Toys R Us, Debenhams, Ikea and several other places with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas of where we can look? It's all he wants for Christmas!
SK x

Ebay? There's loads if you search for 'school desk' in antique/period furniture. Is this the sort of thing you mean?

this doesn't say its for kids but I'm not good with measurements!
-my 7 year old has his own pull out desk from his bed in his room but invariably uses the dining table to draw or make stuff..0 -
Have you tried local auction rooms? They often have the old inkwell type school desks come up for sale.0

I know it can depend on the height of the child, but sometimes it is worth buying a teenage or adult desk. Even for shorter children, an adult desk can be a good choice - just make sure that there is a foot rest for them. A decent adult sized desk can last into adulthood, rather than just a year or two.0

Hi. I was looking for the exact same thing for my 6 year old daughter, i too didnt want to buy something too small that she would grow out of. I didn't find a school desk after searching for weeks but in the end in IKEA i found a computer desk with a draw, that isn't too big, if thats any good, my daughter likes hers and i still have somewhere to hide all her drawings! Its the MICKE on the IKEA website if you want to have a look.0
