Faulty Bike from Argos....

Hello, I am hoping you can help.

I bought a bike for my step daughter a few months ago for christmas, out it in the cupboard and out it came this weekend to be built!

MAJOR PROBLEM! The fork at the front has been welded wrong so the front wheel wont fit in (it is about an inch out).

I am going to take it back to argos today but just wondered where i stood.... the bike is now not sold by them is it worth asking to swap it for another bike..... all I care about is getting a girls 16" bike tbh the next cheapest one is on sale for £60 i think which is £20 more than what I paid. However, halfords have the bike I originally bought on sale for £65 (its a high school musical one). Is there any chance I can fight for an little bit extra to get the new bike from halfords?

I am so gutted that this has happened and I know that I wont find a bike anywhere for £40!

Or is it a case of they will give me my money back only? xx

  • I used to work at Argos many years ago. Since Argos no longer stock the bike i'm pretty sure you can choose between getting money back or exchanging for a new product. Argos gives a thirty day money back guarantee (which is no good to you because you bought your bike a few months ago) However, on most products Argos also give a 12 month warranty against faults/defects etc. that are not your fault. So you shouldn't have any problems! Just make sure you have your receipt!
    Life is what you make of it but most of it's just fake

    As they dont stock that item then you will be entitled to a refund. depends on how you paid for it

    cash = cash refund
    cc/dc = refund onto original card
    hsv/gc = refund in Argos gift card.

    not necessarily. They might send it back to the manufacturer who will repair or replace it.
