I'm sure you can rent a PO box address, but then surely that would look suspicious on why you won't use your home address.

I'd just send a recorded delivery letter to the woman, being VERY polite, enclosing copies of what she's paid so far, the evidence of the contract (text messages, dialog of phone message etc...) and giving her 7 days to pay for the work done so far (and list what work has been carried out, and what work remains to be done - showing the breakdown of what you're asking her to pay). Let her know that failure to pay will leave you no option but to take her to court for the money. I'd also go on to say that should she wish the work finishing for the agreed price of £X, then you'd be more than happy to do it, but will want paying on the day before the work starts given her recent refusal to pay you.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • This just get weirder and weirder :S

Does anyone know if it's possible to 'rent' an alternative address rather than using our home address? Costs involved? For various reasons I'm not happy for OH to include our home address on his invoice.

    Any more help much appreciated
I think you need to indicate the general area of the various reasons. If there is a physical threat, you need to get the police involved. If it is a threat of involving HMRC or something along those lines, you need to deal with it differently.

It seems my OH is not the first person she's done this to. She uses builders to get materials at trade prices and then sacks them off never seeing a penny from her.

Reason I don't want her to have our address is that her whole family have involved themselves. A lot of threats have already been passed our way so I'm not willing to risk it.

If we lived on camp I wouldn't care about them having the address seeing as there's no way they could ever do anything! But we've been housed in the town as there were no quarters avail when OH was posted here!

Can you not get together with these builders and go to the police?

Although that won't directly get you your money it may at least help others.

Finally, does she have any military connection? If she does you might be surprised how seriously the army would view this........
