BT rental gone up

BT have had me on the Unlimited Weekend Plan for some time as it's, well free. I look at my latest bill and it's shot up to £14.74 and they have charged me 14p for the plan. I have not dialed any numbers through BT as I use 18185. This is very expensive and misleading.

Unltd E&W is inclusive, not free. The increase in line rental to £14.60 has been flagged up for some months now.
The 14p charge is presumably a billing error.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Is there an alternative provider with better rates out there ?

BT, Talk Talk and Sky are offering line rental paid 12 months in advance for £120 or under.

I may be wrong but don't you have to make a couple of calls via BT every so often to keep the discount? Maybe something to do with CLI.

OP You could save by going onto Line rental saver with BT.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

If I pay upfront with BT will they give me an extra incentive to stay if I tell them I am thinking of leaving ? Also, any cashback I can get would be good.

No harm in asking, got some money off my monthly charge a couple of years back, however all my comms have now moved over to Sky, so can't advise.

I've just been charged an extra £1.50 this month for not making the required 2 calls per month.....now that I know I'll be making sure I do lol.

Make them at the weekend when they're inclusive.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
