Dripping wet windscreen
Can anyone help? I've bought a 2003 Ford Focus a week ago. I drove it to work yesterday and when I came out of work at 5.00 pm the inside of my front and rear windscreens were sopping wet - I don't just mean steamed up but actually wet. I had to sit there about 5 minutes and it hadn't completely cleared by the time I got home 20 minutes later. No other car in the car park had this problem you could see their windscreens were absolutely clear. It was a bright sunny and not too cold day here. Any suggestions? I bought it from a Ford main dealer.

sounds like it may have a water leak...its common for those to leak around the pollen filter area0

Hi, I have this same problem with my 2001 mondeo, which I think definately has some sort of leak....0

95% sure thats a pollen filter leak. Let's excess moisture into the car, which is the reason your window inside is dripping wet.
Not nice when the interior starts going mouldy!
Need the pollen filter either replaced or re-fitted.0 -
once its fixed make sure you air the car when you can on a nice sunny day...using the A/C will also help dry it out once the leak is fixed0

I get this on my Corsa and Mondeo but only on the windscreen if I park facing East and it's a sunny day but has been cold in the morning when I have parked my car and I've had the heaters on while driving. The AC clears it quickly. I do try to remember to park facing West and then I don't have the problem.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)0

Thanks for all your replies. I have opened all windows and boot this morningas it's a bright sunny day so hoping for a bit of through-draught. the carpets have a very slightly sticky feel - I wonder if they've shampooed them and closed the car up before it's dried properly so there's excess moisture that hasn't dried out properly. I take on board your comments about the pollen filter - since I posted here I have been looking at other forums about this problem. the car has a 12 month warranty - do you think this would be covered under this? thanks again.0

you will proboally find that they have valeted the car before you bought it and that they never dried the carpets properly or they might even had jetwashed them if they were very badly dirty, the bast way to sort this out is either leave a heater in the car with the windows left open a little or run the car this the aircon on (if it has it) and make sure that the air reciculation is NOT on, but when ever possible leave the windows slightly open just to let the dampness out or if you have a wet vac give the carpets a go over :beer: steves cleenz valeting :beer:0

If it is the pollen filter check to see if the passenger side carpet is damp. You will also start getting a horrible smell.
When I had a replacement windscreen from Autoglass I had this problem. Its actually the pollen filter cover, its glued to the windscreen under the bonnet. If the glue isn't strong enough, the water gets in.
Make sure you inform anybody who services your car too.Never buy a stupid dwarf -
Its not big and its not clever.0
