advice needed for british airways

hi all please can someone give me advice.

iv booked 11 flights with british airways for April.

its my hen night.
i received an email from them yesterday saying they have made some changes and our homecoming flight was leaving malaga at 18.10 and is now leaving at 14.30

we were booked to do activities throughout the day which we will now loose our money on.

also this would leave us landing at gatwick at 16.30 so we wont have anyone to collect us as we booked it so our partners would all have left work and wouldnt have to battle rush hour!

Can anyone help me will i have any leg to stand on when approaching British airways?

i know we are all going to loose our money on the activity as that is non refundable and i feel awful for all the hens that have booked and paid their money expecting this,

Ring them and ask what other options do I have? It may be that they could offer a refund on the return portion only, in that case look ahead to see if any other airline (eg. Easyjet) flies at the required time. Don't agree to anything, tell them you need to discuss it with the other travellers, but note if they do offer a refund and exactly how much. You may be able to change then for a new airline. Other than that, you could ask if there's a flight the next day you could be transferred onto.

  • thank you,

im just so frustrated because organising 11 people was so difficult.

there is a later flight but it lands at 11pm and most of the girls have kids so doubt they could get picked up.

i may ask BA to refund the cost of a mini bus maybe?

im just angry that we all loose £25 each on the activity.

There is no harm in asking, but airlines can cancel or reschedule flights providing they give 15 days notice. The customer has to accept the changed times or have their fare refunded. If you have travel insurance that might cover some of your losses.

Why dont you ask to go on the later flight, and share lifts back or get the train, or book taxis?

Where is your source for this?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • Unless booked as a package BA are only liable for the flights IMO not what you get up to inbetween.

EU cancellation/delay regs have a clause roughly on those lines

BA have no liability to pay costs incurred if you have had notice of the change in times. They may allow you to get a full refund if you so not want to travel on the new flight times.

You will need to approach your travel insurance to see if they will pay.
  • Ive had s flight changed before (not BA though), and again was offered the earlier flight which didn't work as we wouldn't be able to make it. I called them and asked to be in the later flight, was moved over without a problem. It was when I arranged a holiday for 7 of us, so again a large group. If I were you I would ask to me in the later flight, explain to them about your pre paid commitments and also ask for them to pay for a minibus/cabs to get you home as it is there fault completely that you have to change the flights. I would email customer services but also Google an email address for the CEO
