a CD-RW disc instead of a DVD+RW disc?
If the answer is yes, are there any differences between either disc (i.e. amount of space/quality etc)?

Dependant on the size of the file your trying to burn you can put your Legal film onto either. A CD-RW disc will most prob be 700MB in size which equates to roughly 80 mins....i think. A DVD+RW disc can store lots and lots more as its 4.7GB in size. I'm not experienced enough to comment accurately on quality but I should imagine all things being equal you wouldn't really notice any difference when watching. I'm assuming you know that the RW stands for re writable so you can go over the same disk many times, that in itself may affect film quality in time.0 -
A CD will give 80minutes of uncompressed audio not 80min of video. you can burn anything on to any kind of media as long as the file size will fit. Quality will be the same if the data you are burning is the same.Nothing to see here, move along.0

How big is the movie file? If it is in the GB's you are better off burning to DVD as you will keep the quality. You could still burn to cd but you will end up with the movie spread across 5-6 CD's and it would be very annoying to have to keep swapping the disc's while trying to watch the film. Why do you want to burn to CD?"Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

people used to burn movies to CD when blank DVDs were really expensive. If you plan on doing it regularly, then if you don't have a DVD rewriter then you might want to invest in one - I'd recommend the Pioneer 111 at about £28.
It can be done but its a lot of hassle - i think you have to burn it to VCD format - video CD?
Copying a DVD to a backup DVD isn't terribly difficult.

you use DVD2SVCD to copy a file to a CD. You can either burn it as a VCD (Video CD) or SVCD (Super Video CD). In order to avoid losing too much quality I use to burn things onto 2 CDs so you had to swap over half way through.
Lots of info at https://www.doom9.org and https://www.videohelp.com
DVD2SVCD is pretty old now but it should do what you want. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
