Royal Mail Fail

Had to post something on here because I'm so disgusted and to see if this has happened to anybody else...
Bought a Gamecube off Ebay at the end of October, and didn't receive it after a couple of weeks. Got in touch with the seller, and we found out that it was being returned to him because they somehow couldn't deliver it. There was no evidence of them trying to at the time, as there was no missed delivery card or anything. They then 'lost' it on the way back to the seller leaving us both out of pocket. He got in touch to find out what was going on, and they've just sent him a letter with a copy of the signature on it, stating the parcel was delivered to me personally two days after it was posted. I was at work at the time and the signature is nothing like mine. Somebody at Royal Mail has either forged an autograph because my package has disappeared or been nicked and are hoping I somehow won't notice I don't have it, or they have delivered it to the wrong address where it's been signed by someone pretending to be me.
Either way, this is absolutely appalling and at this time of year I'm hoping it's not going to be something that happens on a regular basis. RM also make it pretty hard to complain - there's never any phone advisors and the website takes you round in circles. I have spoken to somebody that temped there at university and he wasn't surprised by the situation at all. The previous few items I bought over the internet had also been torn open before receipt, and my boyfriend had two debit and credit cards lost in the post. What Royal Mail has done is either fraudulent or just plain sloppy! Avoid if you can!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

are you waiting on a delivery of paragraphs too?
"we found out it was being returned"
how did you find out?
"a letter stating it had been delivered" well how did that change?
how are you both out of pocket?0 -

Personally i'd be questionning the seller about this!!
So one second he is saying RM are returning the item to him, suddenly he has your signature confirming delivery............
Something doesn't seem right here!
I trust the seller has refunded you?0 -

yet you had no trouble reading it0 -
Op, did seller ever actually show you proof he posted the item? I think arcon5 has a point here, this does look susicious.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0

Just a reminder that Royal Mail have said that Tue 20th December is the last posting day if you want to guarantee delivery by Easter.0

I've only ever had one thing go missing with Royal Mail. I sold something on eBay, sent it by recorded delivery, and it disappeared in the system. I refunded the buyer and filled in a RM compensation form. They sent me a cheque within a couple of weeks.
You don't know for sure that RM is at fault. If the seller didn't send it by a service with an appropriate compensation level for its value, he/she won't be able to recoup the cost from RM. So it's possible they're now trying to pull a fast one. Could be either party at fault - you don't know.0
