I registered online but not sure exactly of the site..it was recommended on the IVR system Bt use when calling them

That's the site I used to register and, later, to register a number of elderly relatives' numbers.

No problems experienced so I'd say, "Yes, it's legit."

It's run by the Direct Marketing Authority. (www.dma.org.uk)

They also do the same for faxes and direct mail.

Yes it certainly is legit, and it works. Ita takes from 4 - 6 weeks to really take effect but it does cut down on the number of annoying calls. We registered well over a year ago and now only get very occasional sales calls, usually the recorded powerdialled variety 'Hi I'm Stacey and you've won a . . .'

I never know what I've won, as I just hang up.
