Buying private cars, comebacks.

    In short - No. YOu have almost NO comeback from a private seller, an IMO that's quite correct.

    If you buy a £500 car privately, and it blows up the next day, well, IMO that's your fault for not knowing what a knackered big end or dead gearbox sounds like... or buying a car that's not worth fixing if any problems DO come up. You can mitigate against these dangers by buying carefully (I.e. not off the side of the road usually!).

    If you buy a £5,000 car privately, you just need to be 10x as sure. Do ALL your homework and get the car inspected.

    The vast majority of private car sellers are legitimate. I've had no problems buying privately, in fact I enjoy the experience. It just requires that you keep your wits about you and remain prepared to walk away at any point.

    There is no need you are quite correct, but others just popping in for one reply saying rubbish is annoying. They just pop up to boost their reply ratio.

    I started this thread for others as well to know about buying private, boy ive bought a few in my time. on most occasions bought a good en but there have been a few donkeys there too.
    All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.
