Looking after your washing machine and dryer

Hi

I got my new Indesit washing machine (washer dryer) delivered yesterday after the old one died on me :(

Any tips on how I can ensure I maintain it properly so that it does not die on me after a few years which has been the case before.

    Not a great deal i shouldn't think.

Don't put too much in it...
Keep the soap powder drawer clean, wipe round the seals....
    Clean the filters regularly...
Run it empty on a hot wash once a month...
Check pockets in clothing for sharp things, tissues etc....

Always leave the door open after use. It will ventilate the drum and be kind to the seal around the door.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Don't wash everything with liquitabs at 30 degrees or less and don't overload your machine are probably the two biggest things.

Calgon shouldn't be necessary providing you do hot washes. Save the money spent on calgon and put that towards your next machine! This is MSE after all

You takes you chances with most of the budget/low mid range makes these days to be honest (including Indesit group of companies) - just look how cheap they are compared to 20 years ago

EDIT - just noticed you said washer dryer - in that case there isn't a lot you can do. They are unlikely to last as long as stand alone W/M or dryers. We had a Hotpoint one once and it lasted about 5 years or so with about 3 or 4 breakdowns in that time
