sending a laptop to Australia

My daughter is out in Australia on a one year visa. She wants me to send her laptop over. What's the best way to do this?

Comments

  • Take a look in the ebay section as how things like that get sent abroad

Having said that I reckon what with the cost of freight & insurance plus likelihood of damage or theft and possible import duties she may well be better off getting a cheap one locally - and then if necessary getting her critical files to her separately

If the laptop weighs less then 2kg packaged you could try Royal Mail International Signed For Airmail or Royal Mail Airsure - these are both tracked. I've used them to send things to Australia and it usually takes about 2 weeks, dependent where is Aus it is going. Price for the upper weight is near enough £25-£30 with additional compensation to cover the value.

If it's over 2kg packaged you're probably looking at having to use a courier service. You could try websites like Parcel2Ship, MyParcelDelivery.com etc. You can get online quotes there. I've used Parcel2Ship and had no problems so far for UK deliveries.

    Good luck!

As suggested have a look in the Ebay section. A regular poster there, Hammyman, sends laptops worldwide and should be able to help.
