have noticed a number of companies are offering ` up to 30%` price reduction on the equipment - given its the same equipment as before does that mean they were making even more per install or have the suppliers actually lowered prices?

Presumably because come 12/12 the solar PV market will collapse with the huge reduction in FIT's for new installs. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Prices were already dropping. Our install in Nov cost under £9k for 3kWp. The same 6-12 months earlier would appear to have been around £14-16k.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

There is probably a mountain of cancelled orders in China, and container ship loads on their way to Europe. Can this be another mini financial crisis in the pipe line? I wonder how they are going to do it. Auction at £20 per panel, and then eBay?0

i`ll buy 20 panels at 20p per panel

Interesting thought. Alternatively when the price of electricity is the same as the FITs payment then they may be worth having without subsidy if the price continues to drop at the same rate. The new FITs payment at 21p is now not far off the kWh rate most people pay of approx 12p-14p.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

doubtful anyone whos paid out for solar is becuase of the pit tarrif it used to pay out not for green reasons or off setting the cost of electric to the home
in all fairness the fit is morally wrong as everybody pays for it as extra on their bill even those on low income struggling to pay the energy bills a classic case of the haves stealing from the have nots in my view0
