MIB Offer

Options
Afternoon all,
Can someone advise us if the offer my mum received seems reasonable.

Its bit of long story so ill try to keep it brief.

In Aug 08 my mum was hit head on by an uninsured driver speeding & driving on the wrong side of the road. Both cars were written off & the other driver had to be cut out of his. My mum was very lucky to get away with 3 broken ribs, whiplash & some pretty serious ligament damage in her left knee. Amazingly there was a police car & an ambulance right behind her so she was looked after really well & taken to hospital very quickly.

Her injuries have pretty much healed up now but to be honest she has been having some emotional problems since the crash, she's lost all confidence & very rarely leaves the house anymore.

Her solicitors have had her evaluated by a shrink & his report is a pretty depressing read. He's said that the crash has pretty much changed her as a person & she might never be able to get back to the way she was.

I'm unsure if how badly she has been effected mentally will have much baring on the claim she has with the MIB but thought id mention it to you all.

So, the MIB have made a part 36 offer of £3500, which she turned down, they have now come back with an offer of £5100.

Does this seem like a reasonable amount?

Thanks all.

You'll really need to ask the solicitor if he/she thinks it is reasonable. MSE members can't give you legal advice, and we don't know the contents of the medical evidence.
  • the solicitor has said he cant advise us becaue he's still waiting on some report/rsponse from the shrink & the MIB, but the part 36 offer she received has to be responded to this week even though the ETA for the MIB to respond to the shrinks report is the 31.1.12.
    Mental.
  • Can someone close this off ive sorted it now. Thanks
