Bank or CC company - who has rejected the payment?

Just double checked with the bank again and they said that the 1100 rejection code is definitely an issue with the payees bank and they will put that in writing for me.0

The bit where you say 'subject to sufficient funds being in the account' confuses me.
If you make an immediate faster payment (i.e. for the payment to go now), then you should get a confirmation saying not just that they payment was sent, but also that it's been received. This shouldn't say anything about 'subject to sufficient funds', since the payment has already gone through by this time. If you received this message, then you can make a complaint with Natwest, since the message was obviously shown in error.
If you made it as a future-dated FP (i.e. said that you want the payment to go on xx/yy/2011), then you'd expect a message about ensuring you have sufficient funds in the account. In this case, the payment shouldn't have been rejected (it should have been sent by BACS if Natwest's FP system was down) and you can complain on the grounds that they had no reason to reject the payment.
This is what it says:
Confirmation
Your payment has been arranged subject to sufficient funds being available in your account on the payment date.
The money will leave your account immediately and the funds should normally reach the payee's account today0 -

Maybe so - but it doesn't explain why Natwest didn't send it by BACS when FP failed.0 -

Also;
Its says on back of Halifax statement that they cannot accept payment using the Faster Payment service at this time. However, as I have said, I have used my online banking to make the payment before and had no issues.0 -
I did it this week myself, but myn was halifax to halifax it says fast pay as ref for payment on my card instead of the 4 day period.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

My bank now saying this:
any decisions through faster payments are decided on the sort code going to and whether they receive faster payments. If they don;t then it is automatically set as a BACs payment. If it has failed, as in this case, with a rejected code then it is only failed by the recipient bank when the attempt is put through.0 -
Well they didn't accept them last month. But i know they were on about start to, so like others had said, if they are accepting them to the credit cards, its a recent change. But its good to know as my new statement is due next week so ill be able to test and confirm. If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0

the details provided by the recipient are showing as able to accept faster payments due to the sort code used, their sort code 802045 is registered as being signed up for the interbank faster payments scheme and so each is being processed as a faster payment automatically.
I wonder have I just hit right in the transition of the whole thing??!0 -
Halifax online now saying that they are accepting faster payment
Bet that it what has happened, the sort code was updated to receive it before their system could actually handle it.0 -
Still not gotten an answer as to who is responsible for Halifax have refunded the charges as a good will gesture as there was no previous issues on the account.0
