The regulations regarding businesses are different to home use, but under the Lawful Business Practice regulations there is still no legal requirement to notify a party of recordings who is not an employee of the business, as long as the regulations are adhered to. It is a courtesy to notify of recording, unless the call is to be used for purposes outside of the regulations.

It is legal to record any private phone call in which you are a party, the recording may also be used as evidence in a court of law. However, disclosing that recording to a third-party could be considered illegal, the recording is legal if used for personal reference only.

In other words, I can record any phone call I wish to without permission as long as I don't disclose that recording to another person. It is not a breach of the Telecommunications Act to record a phone call!
