Just had a look on Asda website to confirm what I thought. Found this in the FAQ section.

What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.

You were actually due 4 X £2.00 giftcards, one for each ITEM mischarged. They also have the same policy for undercharges.
