Autoaid is the runaway leader! I found out about on here and have used it, sister company to Autonational which I've used for years and always found them efficient. :)

  • I found http://www.firstcallmotorbreakdown.co.uk/ ideal for the car that my mum and I share as it covered the car, not the individuals

Don't forget 10% cashback through Quidco. Think there are quite a few companies on Quidco which you can get cashback through inc. AA, Green Flag, etc.
  • Hi

I'm sure how they compare costwise but I have been with Britannia Breakdown now for about 10 years and they always amaze me how good they are. They always exceed my expectations. I've broken down about 4 or 5 times through out the 10 years and they have always got to me within 30 minutes - which is important if you are a woman on your own or with kids like me.

Everyone I dealt with, from the telephone operator to the mechanic have been excellent, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, even when the problem has been my fault or very basic.

I use autoaid it Costs £31 a year for the top cover which would cost £150 plus with the other providers the only difference is you have to pay and claim it back I only needed too once and had my money within a week of my claim brilliant cant go wrong
Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Since first using Martins I have saved thousands
  • I too have followed the MSE route and used AutoAid - £32 for a whole year for my partner and I - I know if you breakdown you have to pay up in advance but you get the money back just as quickly and if you have a new or newish car - you just need peace of mind really that they will tow you away to a place of safety and where your car can get fixed. It saved me over £90 from the RAC rip off renewal quote I had.
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016
  • Check on quidco as a lot of companies have quite generous cashback. I dont bother with home recovery as we have a friend who is a mechanic just down the road (and another one across the road) as well as an OH who is fairly knowledgable. I can remember how much the AA and RAC ones are but with the quidco cashback works out ok (I like as can change car through year and not have to pay extra for admin and I am also covered in someone elses car).

    Cover a couple if married.
It's a bargain for one vehicle but if you have more it's an absolute steal !!
