Is this right?

Can you tell me if this is right? Long winded story I'm afraid!
Last week went to b and q to buy some decorations on 3 for 2. Bought 10 items, ( one over I know but we needed an extra bit of tinsel!)
The prices were £3-£4. The discount we received was £9 whhi h makes sense as we got 3 of the £3 decorations for free.
However we can to put a £4 pack of baubles up to find one of them smashed. No probs I thought, take it back to b and a today- stil got the receipt, bought 10 items so it shouldn't affect the 3 for 2 as we only got a £3 discount max.
How wrong I was? B and q have only refunded me £2.91 for the £4 item as they say the discount is taken off as an average!
How can this be? Even the sales person admitted if I had paid seperately for the item I would have been and should have been refunded £4 but as I paid in with the 3 for 2 items I have not received the full amount back. Am I wrong or are they wrong? I know it is little over a pound but that is not the point!!

Technically you should get the one refunded and the other 3 offers remain in tact.

I guess it is down to how their computer works. you could always take them all back and then rebuy the 9 you want..
  • I could understand that method if I had only bought 9 items and returned one! I just think its really cheeky! I know it's only just over £1 but if they do that to a few people it will still rack up!
