Success with RBS PPI Claim

  • Credit Card taken out on 9/6/2001 (I was never asked whether or not PPI was required):angry:
  • First letter sent to cancel PPI – 10/1/2011
  • RBS Response – PPI cancelled - 14/1/2011
  • Letter Sent with £ 1 Fee requesting copy of Terms and Conditions - 17/5/2011 ( As recommended by Money Saving Expert)
  • RBS Response – 4/7/2011 – Unable to find original Terms and Conditions. Additionally although no payment has ever been missed throughout the period the card has been held – threat of debt collection – no bearing at all on contents of letter. Additionally Credit limit reduced by £ 2,700.:mad:
  • Official Compliant Form from sent 17/6/2011 (Completed Form displayed on Money Saving Expert)
  • RBS Offer received – 29/9/2011 - £ 815.66 (To be credited to account) – Required signature of acceptance - No need to pass to Ombudsman
  • Letter returned 23/10/2011 accepting reclaim amount.
  • Cheque for £ 697.61 :T(Original amount less current balance) Received 4/12/2011

    I have only come across with RBS that requires signature for acceptance form, compared to other lender who just issue the payment (cheque).

    I would recommend anyone who is ask to sign such form write the following legal word on the form:

    Without Prejudice

    It should protect you to make any future claim e.g if they decide to clear of your indeedness from the RBS Group etc (that include link to debt collection agency) - you can write back to them and the documents you sign cannot be used as the binding agreement to clear of the debt as a PPI refund.
