Changing a booking with Expedia

I'm after some help.

Long story short; someone in USA coming over around Christmas, needs to come home early for funeral, need to change booking but I don't want to tell the person as they have their finals on Wednesday.

Is this possible? The flight has been paid with my card.
Please explain slowly...

It will depend on the rules on the ticket, some can be changed for a fee, others cannot be changed at all. If you know the fare class and airline you should be able to view the rules and contact expedia

also pretty sure that the passenger would have to make the change...typically airlines won't let someone else make a change, even if the other person paid for the ticket.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
