Need help finding statistical information

I'm preparing to start little marketing campaign for a small web-development company I work at. We have never done this before and after spending some time digging for information we need without any positive outcome I feel quite idea-less.

Our aim is to find companies from retail industry, with turnover between GBP 2-3 mln and revenue around GBP 500k from London and Cambridgeshire areas.

Is this kind of information possible to obtain for free from somewhere? If not, what are guidelines to make own research? How companies that offer annual reports of any enterprise for a fee do get those information (they claim it's available publicly) ?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Well thanks for effort, but I wonder what webbrowser do you use. Mine is not showing your results (and to be precise putting "Companies with £3m turnover" into browsers/spiders gives links about 3M company). Results migth look like something useful but when click further it turns out you found nothing. :mad:

Charts like top 500 companies will not give you small companies. They are based on stock listed fellows. GBP 3m turnover enterprises are mostly (or all) Limited ones.

No offence but I spent some time searching and MSE Forum was last thing I used to get some info.


After more searching I found out that ltd companies don't have to list their turnover and revenue, it's their good will if they do.

For those who would want to find any companies information there is actually a website which for some time do it for free:

Yes, your limited company's data is there, and yes, your personal address is available over there as well if you are the director and did not hide it from directory.

From your post it seems there probably isn't any online site which would give you the precise info you're looking for.

Are you looking for statistics or are you looking for a mailing list? If you are looking for a list you could try https://www.marketingfile.com which sells lists on line.
For annual reports, directors names go to https://www.companieshouse.gov.uk but you will have to pay for the full report.

You might find that a cold mail or email approach to companies yields little result. Where I work, we get offers for all kinds of business services everyday. We ignore all of them. When we are in the market, we prefer recommendations or web searches.
