XP netbook starts but just hangs

When you start your netbook normaly how far does it go before it "hangs" ie. as far as the windows splash screen or as far as your desktop before it hangs?

Have you installed/uninstalled or updated any software just before the problem?

You mentioned you thought it might be a malware problem in one of your posts, have you had any malware/virus problems recently?

If so what antivirus/malware programmes do you have installed?

I've downloaded and untarred the file and it still only seems to be around 200MB. Personally I'd delete everything on the card before trying to install Slax on it, but that probably isn't necessary.

Have run chkdsk. It says it has verified files, indexes and security descriptors and also USN journal. Didn't seem to display any errors before it suddenly disappeared.

There have been two BIOS updates since yours.

There's always the possibility of a clean install/Factory Restore, but have you tried a System Restore to before the problem began?
