Hi everybody, i am new to this so please be nice. I have a blackberry curve through virgin on a 2 year contract, paying £15 each month. I am happy with my phone but this week its not working screen freezes and it switches off cant use it at all. I tried phoning virgin last night they put me through to technical team but i was on hold for ages. Not sure where I stand as never had a contract before I dont have any insurance and contract doesnt run out until august 2012. Should they give me a new phone? if so what should i do next, just tried emailing them but having problems with website, i already am with virgin for my internet, media and landline and my son has a contract aswell, so am a good customer to them. PLEASE HELP xx

The status quo is that networks deny any link between the handset and the airtime contract. As BB is one of very few handsets that have only 1 year manufacturer's warranty, you'll have to pay for the repair or for a new handset and keep paying for the contract. If you don't like this, don't buy a contract phone next time. Buy it sim-free or PAYG and use on PAYG or a rolling contract.
There is an opinion that you are covered by the Supply of the Goods and Services Act, but I think you'll have to to take Virgin to court and there is no guarantee that you'll win.

actually blackberry offer a replacement for any of their phones. you will not have to pay anything nor will u have to pay fees. advise for using a blackberry...you must keep it clean (ie wipe emails, txts, messengers etc) so as not to use to much virtual memory. connect your phone to ur pc, back it up, reset i u want but not necessary then wipe everything on ur phone apart from contacts and stuff on ur memory card. be very careful what apps u use....some of them will play havoc with ur phone. did u download a new app before it started playing up...if so delete that app and dont re install. if there is too much going on in ur phone expect it to crash....just like a pc would. clean it up, delete cheap or freebie apps then do a battery pull...ur phone should work fine after that0

do a phone reset (AKA battery pull).
Pull the battery out for 30 seconds and put it back it. It should stop the freezing without having to back up everything!
good luck!0 -

hi
i had a simiar problem with my blackberry screen switching off / sending emails before i had finnished them
im with tmobile i rang them to ask them about an upgrade as i knew it was due in jan and thought that i could hold on to the phone till then but unbelivably they told me that it had a two year warrenty and sent me out a new phone the next day
so check your warrenty with blackberry0 -
plug it into your pc, and do a reset that way/ software updateDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

A reset can be attempted through options -> security options -> secure wipe but does exactly what it says, wipes all that you select.0
