When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

    Morning all!
What a manky day - again! Sleeting and hailstones today - makes a change from the tropical weather we've been having this week - not!

Just back from Mr T's and even though I took a list I went a bit bonkers - I think sometimes you just get fed up of watching every penny and just get what you fancy - that's what happened today anyway. Managed to spend £39 from a budget of £30 - oh well, its not a complete disaster financially for me but a bit silly all the same:o (I did get some yummy stuff for a change though)

For the rest of the day...
    • Walk dog again in the freezing cold wet done twice
    • Clean the whole house done
    • Put a load of washing on done
    • All food from yummy stores (have to make the most of it now its bought!) done
    • Stay in tonight and watch a DVD (avoiding X Factor like the plague, can't stand it!)
    • Do about 2 hours school work later done 3hrs
    • Check poorly bank - roll on payday on Thursday done
    • Update diary on here done
    • Read new library book
    • Think about Xmas Day outfit - we go out to a restaurant for dinner so have to make a bit of an effort
That's about it for now - hope everyone has a good day

afternoon all. Very quiet on here today.

We have been to a christmas market in town today and it was a bit rubbish to be honest. All the stalls were very samey and nothing really took my fancy. Shame but very MSE!

    this weekend I will

    [STRIKE]email work about childcare vouchers[/STRIKE]
    tidy front room
[STRIKE]keep heating on low[/STRIKE] (afraid to have it off in case baby gets cold)
    meals from stores
    [STRIKE]make soup and freeze it[/STRIKE]
    HM bread
finish decorating for Christmas - only our tree up at the mo

    that'll do I think

    Happy Saturday everyone

  • Hi everyone,
Another day off for me today. Had a nice lie in this morning to recover from last nights gig, twas a good night but the drive home was shattering. Only 110 miles and nearly all motorway but didn't want to rush (or blink!) in case there was black ice! Scotland did look very christmasy with a sprinkling of snow though.:snow_grin
Having a Christmas dinner for OH's two teenagers today (he only sees them on a Sat afternoon), got a 3 bird roast reduced in the summer and kept it in the freezer for this very occasion! Need to pop out and get some chipolatas and bacon for pigs in blankets but will make up a load and freeze some for later. Everything else is in the cupboards and freezer so not a great outlay needed.
I also found half a dozen crackers in the decs box when I put the tree up yesterday so don't need to buy any!
    Todays list:
Washing machine is on, will hang up around hot tank to dry.
    Walk pooches locally.
Wrap some prezzies up to put under tree.
Wrap an Ebay sale to post on Monday.
LSD, only a few essesntial food bits.
Check Onepoll a couple of times.

    Lazy day really!
  • Late post from me today, but better late than never!

    So far today:
    • filling porridge for breakfast
    • hung washing on airer
    • fed and watered the chickens in exchange for three eggs today
    • bulk cooked biscuits and muffins
    • customer collected her dress and paid me £7 more than I invoiced :D
    • checked banking
    • checked for surveys
    • half made a sock monkey for a customer
    • just about to get bread dough started
    I will also:
    • finish the sock monkey tonight
    • crack on with other Christmas presents this evening
    • bake the bread whilst cooking lasagne later
    • go late night shopping to Mr T's with a handful of vouchers as we were too tired last night
I think that will be enough for today, and I'll do another list for tomorrow.

  • Sounds like most people are having good MSE days. I'm home from my trauma of kids party followed by Sainsbury's. One tiny mistake - forgot to take drinks for the kids which then cost £3.10 to buy!
    On the plus side.
Didn't eat lunch in the pub - had a sarnie from home in the car.
Both kids fed at party (bonus as was only expecting 1 to be)
Managed to reduce weekly grocery spend from £78 last week to £55.78 this week (budgeted £50)
Filled car with petrol so I won't have to do it tomorrow so can aim for a nsd.
