Do you whizz it in a hot oven at the end to get a glaze on?

Sorry to be dim but can you tell me how you do it in the slow cooker, do you add any liquid and if so what? How do you know how long to cook it for

    Thanks!
  • I was always scared to do my own ham until I tried it a few weeks ago and now I can't stop making them! Make your own ham.. it's amazing!

We just cover the gammon joint with water in a large pan and boil for 3 hours. Take your ham and remove the skin/fat (just falls off) then score and glaze. To glaze we just used apple juice with sugar but there are loads of recipe's out there. Then pop it in the oven for around 40 minutes until the glaze has browned. Perfect ham!

    Aw i'm hungry now!!

  • I add absolutely nothing to ine when I do it in the slow cooker.Literally just bung it in and wait.Beautifully tender moist meat.We then have some hot with mash and peas and then use the rest for whatever we fancy later in the week.
    "Simples"!
  • I bought 2 Tesco Ham on bone yesterday. Had one last year and it was beautiful. I did notice a lot of smaller ones on display but had a good choice. Buy them now as the last couple of years, I have only seen them on display for about a week....
  • I bought this for £7 last year, i thought it was really nice!
However, i've just spotted the Aldi Extra Large gammon joint for £6.99 - 1.9kg.

    Has anyone tried this?
