Hello everyone,
Recently i was given a job offer from co operative bank, and the pre employment contract stated that i need to open a bank account in order to get started with the bank.. I appled for the staff bank account and it was declined. And later the bank cancelled my job offer. I checked my credit report and i realised that Orange have put a default in my name. Last year i had a dispute with orange, i ordered one pay monthly sim and they sent me two and they refused to take it back. i was calling them everyday, but no one could even trace the sales rep who actually sold me that sim. After that i told them that if they wont cancel that sim i wont pay them. so then they started sending me debt collector letters and my name was put in the default, i called orange and i said oki fine i will continue the contract with u if u take that sim off my name, orange helped me at that time and took the payment off me and then now last month i found out that my credit file still have that default and because of which i didnt get the job , i contacted them and they emailed me this
Dear Mr xxxx
Thank you for your recent letter regarding your Orange account and the information showing on your credit file.
The default showing on your credit file relates to arrears on your account which were left unpaid for over 6 months. After following our collections process your subscription was disconnected and the account was passed to an external debt collection agency. The information showing on your credit file was recorded in accordance with the terms and conditions of your contract with us.
We can see that you have since cleared the arrears and as a result your subscription was reconnected to this account. As the same account was used this has meant that credit file information has not updated since reconnection. We have therefore amended your credit file so that this account shows as active. The default has also been removed and we have passed the account to our technical team to ensure that the default status does not re-occur.
Please allow at least 24 hours for changes to be made to your credit file. After this time please ensure that you obtain a brand new copy of your credit report to see any changes.
Thank you once again for contacting us and we hope this is helpful.

You still defaulted on the payment, so as far as I know it will still be a mark on your credit file.
One of the disadvantages of not paying for a service - you should have paid under protest and taken them to court.0 -
i paid them in january............................ bt they didnt remove the default ......... but now they removed ..........0

I thought banks usually do a pre-screening on your credit history before making a job offer? At least thats how its done according to relatives/friends i have who work in the banking industry. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
