Lol I've had 4 kids go through St Helens schools so it wasn't difficult
Edit to add: I remember OObidoo, also Toy and Hobby and Nevins!14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
If you remember those shops, you will also remember KES, the Kid Eating Snake in the Hardshaw Centre - I wonder what happened to it?
My friend's mum worked at Toy and Hobby - and my friend's son is now too old for toys! He is 19. Just shows how long ago it was
My daughter is working now, but I still have two boys at school. Although both secondary age, they go to diffferent schools. One I buy the uniform sweatshirts directly from school and the rest of the uniform is generic. The other, I buy his blazer and other logo stuff from the market - so much better than Singhs! The staff are helpful and pleasant, yet Singhs have a sign in their window saying that they have no connection with the market (I would have thought that the stall would be the ones denying any connection)

Our school's Friends Association looked into this as we were not happy a) with the cost and b) with the quality of the existing supplier.
We decided to think outside the box a little. The supermarket sweatshirts and polo shirts can't be beaten for price and are even better if you can get them as part of a multi-buy deal but we wanted to keep our school logo.
One option was to get a local company to embroider them but it seemed a lot of effort going to their premises to get an odd jumper stitched. And to be honest they were not very interested in doing one-offs when they were not making any money on the garment.
So we have introduced an iron-on version of the emblem. The badge costs £1 and it goes on a navy supermarket sweatshirt. Like the advert says: simples.0 -

I remember it well, my eldest (now 23) loved it
I heard it went to a women's refuge in Newton and was kept outside so didn't last much longer.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
My eldest is 20 and she used to love it as well. Although KES didn't last much longer, I hope that the kids in the refuge enjoyed it while they could.
Jumty, I have heard of other schools doing this and I think it is a great idea. It's so much more sensible than using expensive and poor quality suppliers.0
