Thanks. But as a parent already I know what I'm entitled to. My query was specific to the gap between Uni and giving birth as I have not been working. Don't know if I can get job seekers or income support. The rules are difficult to understand xxx

If your living on your own and your partner isn't with you then you should be able to claim income support as you have children under the age of 7, if your partner moves in then you need to inform the relevent departments and live off of his wage plus CTC/WTC and possibly HB/CTB

but please remember that if he already stays over and contributes to the household, for benefit purposes you may already be classed as a couple although you may argue it's not official yet.

He rarely stays over ATM and doesn't contribute to house. I don't currently get any income support etc now as my student bursary takes me over threshold. Partner will move in June time. So I will have a month between finishing graduation and having baby.

if you leave uni in July, but he is moving in in June, you wont get any benefits specifically for yourself.
you wont be entitled to income support, as you will not be a lone parent.
as has been said ... ctc and wtc ( if eligable) and possibly some hb/ctb

So your partner moves in in June, you finish uni in July, and baby is due in August? So for that month your partner will have already moved in? Can your partner not help you financially until the baby is born? Once the baby is born you will be entitled to all sorts as has been said.

I'd have thought for the sake of that 1 month your partner should be more than happy to support you, wether your under the same roof or not, but that's just my opinion.
and by the time your claim is processed etc he will already be living with you so the money won't actually be with you at that time so he will likely have to help you out anyway...

He can help financially but I'm
Just concerned it wont be enough for rent and supporting two kids on. Would have thought his income would be too high for housing benefit. Will try some calculations on wtc Thanks for help

then I'd question your eligibility for income support if he will be helping financially.
HB depends on the area you live in etc but worth asking about.

Any benefit payments will be from your universitys last official day, not the day you finish studying, i finished my course in may and no one could get government help until the middle of July. Thankfully I had a job.
