Cheapest way from Newton Abbott or Exeter to Peterborough ?

My Sister wants to come and visit for New year...but is rather skint. Is there any cheap fares out there or deals that we don't know about ?
Cheapest I can find is nearly £30 each way with National Express...which she can't afford.

Cheapest way is to walk! If she sets off now she'll be in time!

On a serious note i would think all the cheap advance fares for the trains ans buses have already been booked up months ago.

Only thing i could think about is splitting the journey up so maybe get a bus/train to london and then from london to peterborough.

Mega bus/train do cheap fares although i dont know if they serve her area.

Quick look at the usual suspect (National Express, Megabus & National Rail) and even if you split the journey in London or mix the mode of transport you aren't going to save much money over £30 each way - exact dates of travel would be useful just in case your definition of "new year" is different from mine.

Would have thought the simplest solution would be to pay for the tickets yourself
