Storm Damage

Had a mini hurricane in the north east of Scotland last night.
My Sister who is a single parent and has no money had a bit of bad luck.
She lives in a house owned by the housing association.
During the storm loads of slates blew off her roof and caused at least a £1000 of damage to her car.
She has contacted the housing association who were not interesed about her car.
She cannot afford the £550 excess on her own car insurance.
Is anyone liable or is this just an act of God ?

It's an act of God, she will have to claim through her own insurance.0

Sorry but I think that unless the roof tiles were known to be loose then the only place you can claim is your car insurance.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

she wont be the only one with damageShe cannot afford the £550 excess on her own car insurance.
then why take insurance with such a high excess if she knew at anytime she had to make a claim she could not afford it
as others stated she will have to claim off her own insurance unless she follows a Billy Connolly film The Man Who Sued God

yes hindsight is 20/20 but limit the excess to what you can reasonably afford at any time0

This is my sister not me,she is a single parent who is trying hard to get a job,she obviously took a high excess because that is all she could afford at the time.0

So she assessed the risk and chose a high excess versus affordability. That's a decision everyone has to make.
All she can do is claim on her car insurance.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
