bags 1st off the plane.

Not moneysaving i know, but thought i'd pass this tip on
if only checking one bag into a planes hold, have it marked as fragile( theres a delicate vase ınside etc), its loaded last and subsequently 1st to appear on the carousel, worked well for me.

  • Then you were lucky. Most aircraft have more than one hold compartment (usually 2 or 3) so it depends on which hold they unload first. That's also the reason for bags coming round in batches, with long gaps whilst the loaders move the equipment around the aircraft.

Also, bags are offloaded from the hold onto a trolley, then from the trolley onto the carousel. So actually the first ones loaded (ie last ones unloaded) could be the first on the carousel as they're on the top of the trolley.

The sequence is highly dependant on the aircraft and airport facilities (how many compartments, loose-loaded or packed in containers, how many loading/unloading teams, how many trollies, how long is each trolley, the size of the carousel loading area.....).

Most premium airlines tag priority bags for passengers who've paid for better seats. These bags should be loaded last/separately and are unloaded onto a dedicated trolley, so they can be delivered to the carousel sometimes before the passenger has even passed through Immigration.
