ASOS have overcharged me, how do I get a refund?

I wonder if anybody has had problems with the shopping at https://www.asos.com.

I ordered some items the other day and when you log in you get the choice of clicking a flag for the currency of your choice.
As it was already in GBP, I chose my items and put them in the basket and checked out.
I paid £41.75 including postage for my items.
I received an email thanking me for my order shortly and left it at that.

The next time I logged in to check the status of the order, I noticed the invoice was in dollars. I panicked for a while and then thought it would be all sorted as I had paid in GBP, and used my UK debit card.

Alas, I checked my bank account today and noticed that the amount shown on my Lloyds Tsb statement was converted from USD to GBP.
But the amount showed it as £46.95, plus they had charged me an extra £1 for a overseas transaction.

I emailed ASOS and told them it was definetly paid in UK pounds, and all day they have been emailing me back and forth saying they won't refund me.
I even faxed my statement to show the charges on my bank account.
But they just don't get it. They first of all say it was submitted in GBP, then later wrote back saying it was an error, and they meant USD.

I know I am right and would have noticed if the total paid was in dollars, I'm very competent at ordering online as I have done for 11 years at least.
I feel ripped off and can't get through to them. There's no telephone number only an email which goes through a form.

I know it's only £7 ish difference, but that's not the point. How can they convert my pounds paid into dollars and charge me the rate which was more on the date it got processed.

Can anybody help.

xx

Hi binnie, this may be better off in the The (Consumer) Vent Board with a more descriptive title(?). Good luck :), G

Hi Goofygat, how do I move it please.
  • this file has the phone number of the chief executive of the company and its finance director - if you don't mind going all the way to the top! Maybe if you bother them it may inspire them to set up a helpline!

  • Tell them you wish to return the goods under the distance selling regulations and ask for a postage paid sticker/envelope.

Thanks all. I don't want to return the goods as I have used some of the stuff. I just want the difference back for being overcharged.
I will see what they say on Monday as I have kept emailing them.

The only way it can be 'moved' is if the mods spot it & move it.

However, you can post a fresh post in the Consumer Vent Board. To do this, click here. Next, press the Edit button on your 1st post here & copy + paste the text into the Post New Thread box (copy & paste the title too). Finally, hit the Submit New Thread button.

If you think it'll help, include a link to this thread in your new thread so people will know what's been suggested so far. G

P.S. Good changed thread title by the way
